Virgin Mobile Australia has been recognized for Product Innovation in the World Brand Awards 2017 for the research and development of Virgin Mobile Data Gifting. The World Brand Award for Product Innovation [PIA] recognizes innovative consumer products offering a point of difference from their competitors.

True to the Virgin spirit, Virgin Mobile Australia has always aimed to make mobile better and fairer in the Australian market. However, while local competitors offered Data Sharing, customers didn’t have a way to easily share their data. On 1 November 2016, with customers in mind, Virgin Mobile launched Data Gifting – the fairest way to share data.

Data Gifting allows customers with a Virgin Mobile Postpaid service to gift their data to anyone else in the Virgin Mobile Postpaid family. All customers on a Virgin Mobile Postpaid service are eligible to use Data Gifting using the Virgin Mobile My Account App on Android or iOS or through the Virgin Mobile My Account web page. They can gift as much as they want, whenever they want, wherever they are. The service is automatically available, with no registration required and no fees charged.

The Virgin Mobile My Account App lets customers choose the recipient of the data gift from their mobile contacts or allows them to enter the recipient’s name and mobile number. Unlike other Data Sharing offerings, Virgin Mobile customers have full control of their data. Along with Data Rollover, Data Gifting is a strong Postpaid Mobile differentiator for Virgin Mobile Australia.

The Data Gifting experience is simple and easy to use within the mobile app and on web by integrating the customer’s mobile address book, providing a responsive update on their remaining data based on the amount they choose to give, making the selection of the data gift amount as fun and interactive as possible.
